ICT goodies at CAN Info-Tech.

KATHMANDU, Feb. 3 -- The ongoing ICT extravaganza- Broadlink CAN Info-Tech 2011- has become the best destination for people to buy Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products. One can get a wide range of cutting-edge ICT products at competitive prices under one roof and also benefit from discount offers ranging from 10 percent to 60 percent provided on various products. Going through stalls decorated attractively, one may feel that the fair has nothing especial apart from laptops and netbooks, but there are also a lot number of eye-catching new products.

Some of the interesting products put on display include interactive electronic whiteboard, HD web cam, mobile phone exchange offer, Mac Book Air, tablets and android OS based tablets that allows users to make phone calls, browse internet and enjoy multimedia.

"Considering people's love for laptops, a large number of exhibitors have put a wide variety of laptops and notebooks on display," said Narayan Neupane, general secretary of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), the organiser. Besides laptops, there are also many other products if stalls are checked carefully, he said, adding that around 50,000 individuals are visiting the fair every day.

MacBook Air

Apple's laptop, the MacBook Air, has been put on display at the fair targeting business executes and corporate people. "As it is thin and light, MacBook Air is the best option for businessmen who need to travel frequently," said Arjun Karki, Sales Co-coordinator of Titan Nepal, the authorised reseller of Apple products in Nepal. He said the company is providing Rs 10,000 discount on both 11-inch and 13-inch models.

Intech Interactive White Board (IWB)

Although it may look like a conventional whiteboard with an aluminium frame, it contains a lot number interactive features. It enables one to operate PCs, laptops or notebooks directly by touching the screen. "It is fully a touch screen. You can write and draw on the board with finger or any non-transparent object," said Sailesh Lohani, CEO of Megatech Power and Com. Solution, which deals with Intech IWB in Nepal. He said the company is also offering a laptop worth Rs 30,000 for free on the purchase of the board that costs Rs 118,000.

Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910

The product introduced by Neoteric Nepal coinciding with the fair can be useful for making video conferencing, HD video recording and taking high resolution pictures, among others. The 10 mega pixel camera also comes with two in-build speakers. An interesting feature of the web cam is it allows users to upload video and photos to Facebook and Youtube for just a lick. However, the company has not fixed the price of the product yet. Apart from C910, Neoteric has also put on display other brand new accessories from Logitech including speakers designed for PC and laptops, solar-powered keyboard and laptop pad with built-in speakers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

It has already been about three months since the Samsung Galaxy Tab entered into the Nepali market. However, it is still the most sought after product at the fair. "We are providing it at Rs 57,000 with a cover worth Rs 2,000 for free," said Lokesh Prasad Oli, managing director of HD Nepal. He said though only a few people bought it, a huge number of people visiting the fair were interested to know about it. The 7-inch touch-screen tablet PC can keep on connected with anyone, anytime through 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi. Bluetooth, battery life of up to seven hours and TFT-LCD display are some of its major features.
