Fed: Analyst finds problems with infrastructure protection
A senior security analyst says a terrorist attack on just three key power and communications
sites in Canberra could bring the federal government to its knees.
Dr ADAM COBB says the problem of protecting Australia's critical communications infrastructure
from cyber-attack is aggravated by restricted government funding.
He says the government has provided only trivial amounts of funding compared to its
commitment to counter-terrorism arrangements.
Dr COBB's made the comments in an article in a Swiss government review of global critical
infrastructure.
A director of the private sector intelligence advisory firm Stratwise, Dr COBB says
Australia has significant vulnerabilities across its critical infrastructure.
He says that includes power, communications and financial systems.
