NSW: Police wind up Newcastle searches

SYDNEY, April 17 AAP - A week-long police search for the remains of several girls missing
on the Hunter region is expected to wind up today after it failed to uncover anything
significant, a police spokeswoman said today.

Strike Force Fenwick was set up to investigate a number of disappearances in Newcastle and
the Hunter Valley area, some dating back to the 1970s, the spokeswoman said.

The week-long search of bushland near Newcastle was part of the investigation, she said.
